OSA Launches Technology-Focused Chapter in Connecticut
The Optical Society of America (OSA) is pleased to announce the formation of a
new chapter in Connecticut that brings together technical college students and
local industry. The group held their inaugural meeting on 9 December 2010 on
the campus of Central Connecticut State University in New Britain, Connecticut.
ÒWe are enthusiastic about the potential of this new organization to create a
partnership between optical technology students and industry, and at the same
time serve the larger community through the benefits that OSA offers chapters,Ó
said Judy Donnelly, Program Coordinator, Laser and
Fiber Optic Technology at Three Rivers Community College and a member of the OSA Membership and Education Services Council. Future activities for this
group will include networking events for students and industry, job fairs and
guest speakers. OSA members who wish to get involved may contact chaptersandsections@osa.org.

Chandrasekhar Roychoudhuri, University of Connecticut, served as the inaugural guest speaker.

Students from CCSU and Springfield (MA) Technical Community College (STCC) are members of the chapter along with members from industry.
