LASER CAMP '10-LaserFest Edition
Laser Camp '10 started a few months early with the first installment held at Three Rivers Community College in November. Fifty plus students from five high schools took part in activites facilitated by SPIE Student Chapter members and EASTCONN and TRCC personnel. Students from Windham High, Windham Tech, Plainfield High, Ellis Tech and Woodstock Academy made laser engraved key tags of alder wood, constructed pinhole cameras and used them to create black and white photos, learned about UV and IR light, took part in a laser mirror challenge, made spectroscopes and looked at various light sources and took part in team building activities. Each student received a Laser Camp tee shirt in this year's color (red) and a matching Three Rivers bag of goodies.
The second Laser Camp activity will be in January when the high school students tour Trumpf, Inc. in Farmington, CT. In May, the third event will feature a laser light show.
