A.S. in Technological Studies/Laser and Fiber Optic Option

at Three Rivers Community College*

*The Technological Studies program is available at all twelve of Connecticut's Community Colleges. The Photonics Option is available by distance learning via the Internet througy Three Rivers Community College.

The College of Technology (COT) A.S. in Technological Studies consists of a core curriculum of general education courses (math, English, science, humanities, social sciences) plus technology courses, which may be chosen from available option packages.

Three Rivers' Certificate in Laser and Fiber Optic Technology (LFOT) is one option package that may be used in the COT program. The courses are available online, except for a required lab at Three Rivers for the fiber optics course. It's also possible for students to create their own degree by choosing photonics courses along with, for example, courses in manufacturing or electronics.

All courses in the COT Technological Studies degree are transferrable to Central Connecticut State University's Industrial Technology BS degree program.

For further information about the LFOT Option of the Technological Studies program at Three Rivers, contact, Judy Donnelly at jdonnelly@trcc.commnet.edu. For information on the COT/Technological Studies program at other CT Community Colleges, see your local COT sit coordinator to create a plan of study that uses both local courses for general education and TRCC photonics courses.
